from GMA News TV (Updated 8:06 a.m.) Classes at all levels in both private and public schools in 19 areas in Luzon, including the National Capital Region, have been suspended early Friday after hours of heavy rain.

Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. said in a statement that the suspension of classes was based on the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), as heavy rain is seen to prevail until afternoon Friday.

The following areas are covered by the suspension:

1. Metro Manila

Region 1

2. Pangasinan

Region 3 (Central Luzon)

3. Zambales
4. Bataan
5. Pampanga
6. Tarlac
7. Nueva Ecija
8. Bulacan

Region 4-A (Calabarzon)

9. Rizal
10. Cavite
11. Batangas
12. Laguna
13. Quezon, including Polillo Island,

Region 4-B

14. Mindoro Provinces
15. Marinduque

Region 5 (Bicol)

16. Camarines Norte

In an updated report aired on "Unang Hirit," Ochoa was also quoted as saying that all classes in Benguet, La Union and Isabela have been suspended.
