Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time is a tower defense video game developed by PopCap Games and published by Electronic Arts, the sequel to Plants vs. Zombies. In August 2012, PopCap announced that they were working on a sequel, and that it would include "new features, settings, and situations".[1] In a later announcement, the company confirmed that the new game would be released on July 18, 2013.[2] On June 26, 2013, PopCap announced on their Twitter page that the game would release later than previously announced. On 9 July, the game was released in Australia and New Zealand via the iOS App Store [3] and will come out in the United States later during the summer.

The official trailer of the game was released on June 3, 2013 on YouTube. The video reveals three new plants and time travel as part of the gameplay. On their website, (roughly) weekly snippet videos are uploaded by PopCap. The first video reveals a new power-up for the plants and the new Egypt-themed location. The second video reveals Bonk Choy, a plant based on a bok choy which punches zombies that come near it, along with the new Pirate-themed location. The third video reveals the pioneer theme, along with a sheriff zombie which jumps over plants (bypassing defenses, changing rows, and attacking plants from behind).
